BCID joins campaign to end source of income discrimination in New York State

BCID joined 41 other groups today in a letter to Gov. Cuomo and the state legislature, calling on them to amend New York State Human Rights law so that income sources can’t be used to discriminate against people who seek housing. Right now, landlords can refuse to rent to someone who uses a voucher or other sources of income other than employment. Many people with disabilities rely on these kinds of income sources and find it harder to get apartments. (New York City already has Source of Income rules in place, but many cities and counties across the state don’t.) Take a look at the Ban Income Bias NY press release in the link for more information.
