April 24, 2018 — Whether it was more funding for independent living centers or increasing funding for a home-repair tax credit, the state’s 2018-2019 budget didn’t come through for people with disabilities, according to a report card released yesterday by the New York Association on Independent Living. (Click on “read more” to reach link to report card.) But it wasn’t a total loss: The legislature did get two A ratings, NYAIL said. NYAIL released its report card as BCID and other independent living centers visited legislators and attended an Assembly hearing to oppose assisted suicide legislation.
